We scurried down these planks and through the woods along the shore of the lake until we found our little hotel/ bed and breakfast.
One of the things that I love about it is that it is only accessible by boat. There is something even more enjoyable about a place that requires a little bit of work to get to and it cuts down on the crowds which I am all for :)
We arrived a bit before check in. What a perfect excuse for yet another cup of coffee
That covered deck area is the dining room. I could get used to eating every meal with that view
La Lancha= boat, El Barco= ship. Confusing the two makes Guatemalans laugh :)
When we made the reservations they asked if we were young because they claimed it was a steep hike to each little casita. They weren't kidding. We lived on a pretty steep hill in SF, it did not even compare with this.
The trek was well worth the stunning views.
They apparently want you to be much closer to nature at Isla Verde. The bathrooms were nearly outside which was lovely except for the mammoth spiders that it attracted.
Which therefore required a makeshift spider barricade.
Not only were the views fantastic, but they had the best food we have ever had on vacation. We ate and studied and ate and drank coffee and ate and read and ate and talked and then we ate some more :) They made a 3 course meal for dinner all made from scratch and hand picked from their garden. It was FANTASTIC!
They even had a yoga studio. Larry loves yoga...
Until next time.
